Did you know That there is 3 different bible's / text of Genesis?

The genealogies are different in the 3 bibles, but also much the same.

This, of course, does not make it easier to find out when the creation was, but we can find all the different options available and find a minimum number and a maximum number and I will try to make the best mix of the 3 bibles.

Here we have the Masoretic Text the Samaritan Pentateuch and the Greek Septuagint.

3 versions of Genesis

3 versions of the Genesis

The Samritan Pentateuch

Masoretic text.png

The Masoretic Text and The Vulgate Bible.

Most of our Bibles today are translations from the Masoretic text - from about 600 AD
The Masoretic text is the preferred translation of the Roman Church and Protestant but also Orthodox Judaism.

The Greek suptuagint bible.png

The Greek Septuagint is from the 4th century. It was translated is 70 scholars in 70 days and therefore he got the name Septuagint, which means 70 in Latin.
It has in addition to the 66 books 11 extra books also called the Apocryphal books. Several of these books were also in the Masoretic text before the Reformation.
Luther's words about the books: "cannot be equated with the canonical books of the Holy Scriptures, yet are good and useful to read."

the samaritan pentateuk.png

The Samaritan Pentateuch.

Samaritans are people related to the Jews, the most sacred place of the Samaritans is Gerizim in the Samaria Mountains (Garizim is best known as the sacred mountain of the Samaritans with a temple destroyed in 128 BC)
Samaria, old town approx. 55 km north of Jerusalem.
Samaria was 800 BC founded as the capital of Israel (Kindom of Israel) and destroyed by the Assyrian conquest in 722 BC
The Samaritan Pentateuch is from the 5th century BC

The Samritan Pentateuch

One of the biggest differences between Septuagint and the Masoretic text.

Isaiah 7:14, which in the Septuagint states, "Behold, the virgin shall abide with child and give birth to a son; Hebrew text instead says: "Look, the young woman must stay with child and give birth to a son, and she must give him the name Immanuel," where the word used in Hebrew is "almah" and not "bethulah" meaning virgin .

Dr. Robert Carter for, “Biblical Age of the Earth.”

There are many different reasons why you can come across all the different numbers.

One of the reasons is that we don't have months in the Bible, only in whole years. So, in the end, you have to add all those months that will be 6 months on average so over 10 generations we will have to add 5 years. "Date Slippage"

Then you have the problem about how long time Israel was in Egypt. That is the Long and Short different in the photo -+215 years.  (read more here)

As you can see on the photo 4220 is the simple timeline and it is weary close to my timeline that is 4222 BC.

But you can also see that there are the 3 other texts ho has different numbers.

But You can see the video where he talks about the Genesis genealogies. click here.

As you can see from the photo below, there are some who believe that there are more copies between the original scriptwriters of the Hebrew text and the Masoretic text. Then there is between the original text and the  Samaritan Pentateuch and the Greek Septuagint.

Did the Septuagint and Pentateuch add 100 years for some reason?
Or has there been removed 100 years in the Hebrew Masoretic text?

From the age, they had when they got the son who became the next generation in line.
So instead of Arphaxed was 135 years when he got Shelah, he was only 35 years old when he got Shelah in the Masoretic text.
This has been deleted or added 100 years. in 6 generations depending on which text you believe in is the right one.
Or did the Septuagint and Pentateuch add 100 years for some reason?

A theory that supports that the Hebrew text has deleted the 100 years.

Some have the theory that the 100 years have been removed in six generations in the Hebrew Masoretic text on purpose.

Because they want to disprove Jesus is the New High Priest. Jesus did not come from the tribe of Levi but the tribe of Judah and priest only come from the tribe of Levi. so according to the law, Jesus cannot be the

New High Priest, but Hebrews 2.9.-17 "therefore he had to become like his brothers and sisters in every respect, so that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make a sacrifice of atonement for the sins of the people"

So Jesus is not a High Priest according to the Levi priesthood but to a higher priesthood. The order of Melchizedek.

Jews don't want Jesus to be the New High Priest so they chance the bible so Melchizedek can be Noah's son Shem, and not Jesus.

You can see in the picture below, that in the 2 other texts then Melchizedek cannot be Shem. Melchizedek interacted with Abraham, and that in the 2 other texts Shem died about 500 years before Abraham was born.

Ho was Melchizedek?

Melchizedek.jpg

The Jews Say:

There is a mid-rash interpretation - that Melchizedek was Shem, Noah's son. But it is a Mid-rash and does not appear directly from the Bible text.

The ancient Targumim (Aramaic interpretive translations) identify Melchizedek as Shem—son of Noah. Shem was one of the links in the chain who transmitted the G‑dly traditions that originated with Adam. These traditions were carefully handed down from generation to generation, and Shem—who headed an academy—was a key conductor of these teachings. The Midrash tells us that he was so perfect and so spiritually advanced that he was born circumcised.2

So why did the priesthood pass from him to Abraham's children? The Talmud explains that this happened as a result of his having blessed Abraham before blessing G‑d in the verses above. This is reflected in the only other place in Scripture where Melchizedek is mentioned: in Psalms 110:4, where we read, ". . . you are a priest forever because of the speech of Melchizedek." Because of Melchizedek's ill-chosen speech, the priesthood was taken from him and given to the seed of Abraham forever.

The Christians Say:

We believe Jesus is The high Priest after the order of Melchizedek.

The Ligonier Ministries article, “The Priest From the Order of Melchizedek,” goes on to say:

“Moreover, the order of Melchizedek is superior because Christ holds it not by virtue of mere physical descent but “by the power of an indestructible life” (v. 16). Psalm 110 foresaw that the Messiah would hold the Melchizedekian priesthood forever, and our Lord’s overcoming death means He will never set aside His priesthood. If we come to God through the priestly ministry of Jesus, we can be sure that like His priesthood, our lives will be eternal. Knowing that Christ holds an eternal priesthood, we are confident that we are secure in Him forever. Our salvation is grounded not in our ability to persevere but in the power of the eternal High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, Christ Jesus our Lord, to preserve us.”

In the picture below, you can see the several differences between the 3 texts and why I chose to make The Best Mix of the 3 teats. Which in reality is the same as James Usher only with 655 years extra. a total of 4659 years.
